Cancellation and Reschedule Notifications

When an appointment's plans change, everyone involved should find out right away — not discover it by showing up to an empty slot or a meeting that no longer exists. Vendi Today automatically notifies the right people whenever an appointment is cancelled or moved.

Cancellation notifications

A cancellation notification fires whenever an appointment is cancelled, marked as a no-show, or flagged invalid. This keeps the customer (and staff, if you choose) informed the moment a booking falls off the calendar, rather than finding out only when a reminder never arrives. Customize the message to include a way to rebook, especially useful if the cancellation came from your side rather than the customer's.

Reschedule notifications

Whenever an appointment's date or time changes — whether a staff member moved it from the backend or the customer rescheduled themselves through their confirmation link — a reschedule notification goes out with the updated details. This replaces the need for a manual follow-up message every time a booking shifts.

Setting these up

Both notification types live in the same Notifications section as your confirmations and reminders, on a per-calendar basis. Toggle each on independently for email, SMS, or other supported channels, and edit the message template so it clearly states what changed rather than repeating a generic confirmation message.

Good to know: Because a status change to No-Show or Invalid also counts as a cancellation for notification purposes, double-check your cancellation message doesn't say something like "we're sorry to cancel" when what actually happened was the customer simply didn't show up — consider a separate no-show follow-up message instead for that scenario.
