Create a Google Search Campaign
Google Search campaigns show your text ads when people look for matching terms. In Ad Manager you build them in three levels: Campaign, Ad Group and Ad.
Start
- Go to Marketing > Ad Manager and click Create Campaign.
- Select Google, click Next, then choose Start from scratch or a template.
Campaign level
- Enter a campaign name.
- Choose a bid strategy such as Maximize Clicks. Optionally set a maximum cost-per-click limit.
- Set a Daily budget and the schedule. Currency follows your Google Ads account.
- Set the required Geographic Location, either by place or by radius. Radius areas cannot be excluded.
- Answer the required EU political ads question.
- Add Languages, plus optional gender and age ranges.
- Optionally add extra assets such as logos, images, call extensions and sitelinks.
Ad group level
- Name the ad group and enter its base website URL, which also generates keyword suggestions.
- Add keywords and pick a match type: Broad, Phrase or Exact.
- Optionally add negative keywords to block unwanted searches.
Each ad group allows up to 40 positive and 40 negative keywords, and keywords are limited to 80 characters.
Ad level
- Add at least 3 headlines (up to 15, 30 characters each).
- Add at least 3 descriptions (up to 90 characters each).
- Enter the final URL, which must share the ad group's base address, and optional display paths (two, up to 15 characters each).
- Add one or two more ads for built-in testing.
Review and publish
Click Review and confirm you have at least one ad group with one ad. Publishing charges ad spend to your Google Ads account, and Google's advertising policies apply, so follow them to avoid rejections.
Good to know: Write headlines that mirror your keywords; matching the search wording usually improves relevance and click rate.
