Create an Email Sequence

Build a sequence once and let it follow up for you. Plan the audience, timing, content and stopping rules before you start.

Build the sequence

  1. Go to Marketing > Emails > Campaigns.
  2. Click to create something new and choose Create Email Sequence.
  3. Set the trigger: start immediately, or at a scheduled time.
  4. Choose the audience: individual contacts, lists or segments.
  5. Switch on Stop on Reply if the sequence should end for anyone who answers.
  6. Add your first email step.
  7. Add more steps and set the delay between them.
  8. For each step, select or design a template, or use plain text.
  9. Add conditions where needed, such as only sending if the previous email was opened or delivered.
  10. Turn on tracking options as needed.
  11. Review the whole flow, then activate the sequence.

After launch

All sequence emails appear threaded in Conversations too. In the campaign list, open the three-dot menu and choose Statistics to see results for each step and for the sequence overall. Sequence data also feeds the main email statistics dashboard.

Planning tips

  • Space emails sensibly. Two to four days between follow-ups is common.
  • Keep each message short and focused on one request.
  • Use delivery or open conditions to avoid repeating yourself.
  • Write the first email so that later steps make sense in the same thread.

Good to know: Test the first step by adding yourself to the audience before launching to real contacts.
