Send and Receive Attachments in Conversations

You can share images, documents, and videos with contacts directly from a conversation thread, whether you're texting, emailing, or chatting.

Ways to attach a file

• Click the paperclip icon in the composer to browse and upload a file.
• Paste a file directly with Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (Mac).
• Reuse a file already stored in your media library instead of uploading it again.

Supported file types

Common formats are supported, including PDF, Word documents (.docx/.doc), spreadsheets (.csv/.xlsx/.xls), plain text, images (.jpg/.jpeg/.png/.gif/.svg), video (.mp4/.mpeg), audio (.mp3/.wav and similar formats), plus .vcf contact cards and .pptx presentations.

How large files are handled

• Files over 20MB are automatically converted into a media library link instead of a direct attachment, so delivery doesn't fail.
• Attachments sent by SMS are always converted into a shareable link rather than a raw file, since text messages can't carry large attachments directly.
• Videos uploaded through the media library automatically get a GIF thumbnail preview generated for them.

Where this works

Attachments can be sent across email, SMS, and WhatsApp — the composer handles the conversion automatically depending on the channel and file size, so you don't need to think about the technical limits yourself.
