Use ClickUp Triggers and Actions in Workflows

Connecting ClickUp lets a workflow react to what happens in your project board and create work there automatically, for example opening a task the moment a deal reaches onboarding.

Triggers you can use

New Task, Task Changes (status, due date, and similar edits), New List, New Folder, New Comment on a Task, New Attachment Added to Task, New Time Entry, and reactions to task comments or chat messages. Filter by workspace or list so the workflow starts only for the work you care about.

Actions you can use

  • Create or update: Create Task, Update Task, Create Space, Create Folder, Create List.
  • Content: Post Task Comment, Post Attachment, Create New Document, Create New Document Page, Edit Document Page.
  • Cleanup: Archive or Delete Task.
  • Lookups: Find Task by ID, Find Documents, Find a List of All Tasks, Find User by Name or Email.

Connect and build

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows, open a workflow, and add any ClickUp trigger or action.
  2. Click Connect Now and approve access in ClickUp. You can also connect from Settings > Integrations.
  3. Choose the workspace, space, and list, then map workflow data, such as the contact name, into the task fields.
  4. Use Test Trigger or Test Action to confirm the mapping.
  5. Save and publish.

Example

When an opportunity moves to "Won," create a ClickUp task in your delivery list, assign it to the project lead, and post a comment containing the contact's notes.

Good to know: The ClickUp account you connect must itself have permission to create items in the target workspace.
