Set Up Taxes for Your Products

Vendi Today lets you create tax rates and apply them automatically at checkout, on invoices, and on estimates — so you don't have to calculate tax by hand on every sale.

Create a tax rate

1. Go to Payments > Settings > Taxes.
2. Click Add Tax.
3. Enter a name for the rate (e.g., "State Sales Tax"), the percentage, and an optional description or tax ID.
4. Save the rate.

You can create as many rates as you need — for example, separate rates for different states, provinces, or product categories.

Apply tax to a product

1. Open the product in Payments > Products (or create a new one).
2. Enable Attach Tax Rates.
3. Select which of your saved tax rates apply to that product. A product can have more than one rate attached.

Apply tax on an invoice

When building an invoice, click Add Tax next to a line item and choose the applicable rate from the dropdown. The tax calculates automatically and shows as its own line on the invoice and any receipt.

Why it matters

Setting tax rates up once — and attaching them to products — means every order form, invoice, and estimate calculates tax the same way, without you re-entering it for each sale. This is especially useful if you sell in multiple regions with different tax requirements.
