Link Notes to Contacts or Opportunities

When a contact has multiple open deals, general customer notes and deal-specific notes can quickly get tangled together. Notes association lets you choose exactly what a note is about, so records stay focused instead of cluttered.

How it works

When creating a note, you choose whether it's associated with a contact, an opportunity, or both. That choice determines where the note shows up and what it gets grouped with.

Setting it up

  1. Open a Contact or Opportunity record.
  2. Go to the Notes tab and click + Add Note.
  3. Use the Associate With dropdown to choose whether the note belongs to the contact, the opportunity, or both.
  4. Save the note.

Why it's worth doing

  • Deal-specific notes stay separate from general customer conversation history.
  • You can filter by association type to quickly find exactly the notes relevant to what you're looking at.
  • Team members reviewing a contact see general customer notes, while those reviewing a deal see only what actually pertains to that deal.
