Unsubscribe Links by Channel and Opt-Out Basics
A clear way to opt out is part of compliant messaging. Trigger links can serve as unsubscribe links that remove a contact from a specific channel when they click.
Channels You Can Cover
- SMS
- Google Business Profile messages
- Facebook and Instagram direct messages
A contact who clicks the matching link is unsubscribed from that channel only, so someone leaving SMS can still receive email.
Set Up an Unsubscribe Link
- Go to Marketing, then Trigger Links.
- Add a link for each channel you use and name them clearly, for example "Unsubscribe - SMS".
- Build a workflow that starts when each link is clicked and marks the contact as do-not-contact for that channel.
- Insert the appropriate link in the footer of messages on that channel.
- Click each one yourself to verify the contact changes.
SMS Keywords Work Automatically
Mobile carriers recognize standard opt-out words such as STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT. When a contact texts one of these, they are unsubscribed automatically. To opt back in, they reply START.
Branded Link Appearance
Trigger links can display your own domain rather than a generic one. This is configured once for the whole account; contact Vendi Today support if you want help with it.
Checking Results
Open a contact's Activity tab to see the click and the unsubscribe event, or filter Contacts by Do Not Disturb status.
Good to know: Even with unsubscribe links in place, always honor a reply of STOP immediately; carriers enforce it.
