Domain Redemption Period and Fees

If you registered a domain through Vendi Today and it expires without being renewed, there's a recovery window — the redemption period — during which you can still get it back, but at a higher cost than a normal renewal.

Why the fee exists

Once a domain expires and enters redemption, the fee to recover it (typically in the $44–$55.50 range) is set by the domain registry and registrar that manage that particular domain extension — not by Vendi Today. Because the cost is tied to third-party recovery processes, it generally can't be waived.

How recovery works

1. Your domain expires and enters a grace period, then moves into redemption if it isn't renewed.
2. You'll need to initiate recovery before the redemption window closes — how long you have depends on the domain provider's own timeline, not a fixed Vendi Today policy.
3. Pay the redemption fee to restore the domain to your account.
4. Once restored, the domain functions normally again — you don't need to re-register it from scratch.

If the redemption window passes without recovery, the domain typically becomes available for anyone to register, and at that point it's no longer recoverable through this process.

How to avoid this

The simplest fix is proactive renewal — turn on auto-renew for domains you rely on, or set yourself a calendar reminder well before the expiration date, so you never end up needing to pay a redemption fee in the first place.
