Phone System Overview
Vendi Today includes a built-in phone system for calling and texting your contacts — no third-party phone provider or separate signup required. Once it's set up, calling and messaging happen right inside the same platform where you manage contacts, pipelines, and conversations.
What's included
- Phone numbers — rent a local or toll-free number (or port in a number you already own) to call and text from.
- Calling — make and receive calls from the web dialer, the mobile app, or a connected desk phone.
- Texting — send and receive SMS, MMS, and RCS messages tied to the same conversation thread as calls and emails.
- Voicemail — custom greetings, voicemail-to-text transcription, and voicemail drops.
- Call routing — send inbound calls to the right person or team based on hours, availability, or an IVR menu.
- Compliance tools — number verification, A2P registration for texting, and spam/reputation monitoring so your calls and texts actually get delivered.
Where it lives
Everything is managed from Settings > Phone System. That's where you buy or port numbers, configure voicemail and call routing, set up compliance, and review usage.
How billing works
Phone system usage is billed from your account's wallet: numbers carry a small monthly rental fee, and calls and text messages are billed per minute or per message segment as you use them. Your wallet can be set to auto-recharge so calling and texting are never interrupted by a low balance. You can see current rates and your usage history from Settings > Phone System > Billing.
Getting started
- Go to Settings > Phone System and purchase your first number (see Buying a Phone Number).
- Assign the number to a user or team.
- Set up voicemail and call routing so inbound calls land in the right place.
- If you plan to text US or Canadian contacts, register for A2P messaging — this is required before high-volume texting will go through reliably.
