Remove, Suspend, Deactivate or Delete an Affiliate: What Each Does

These four actions sound similar but have very different effects on tracking and history. Choose carefully.

Remove from a Campaign

The affiliate is unassigned from that campaign and it disappears from their portal's campaign list. Their history stays, including previously attributed leads.

Suspend from a Campaign

Tracking stops for that affiliate on that campaign: no click tracking, customer tracking, or new and existing sales. They also lose access to that campaign's links and details in the portal while suspended. They remain linked to the campaign and records are kept. Unsuspending restores tracking.

Mark Inactive

Changes the affiliate's overall status without removing any data. An Inactive label appears in Affiliate Manager and in their portal. Past referral information remains. You can do this manually or with the Update Affiliate workflow action.

Delete the Affiliate

This is destructive. Their leads, customers, commissions and payouts are removed, campaign counts they contributed to drop, and their potential-customer history disappears from the portal. The underlying contacts and the form submissions that created them are not deleted.

Choosing the Right One

  • Promotion ended: remove.
  • Temporary pause or concern: suspend.
  • Partner went quiet: mark inactive.
  • Duplicate or test record: delete.

Good to know: Review and pay any outstanding commissions before deleting an affiliate, because deletion also removes payout records.
