Geo Permissions for Calling

By default, outbound calling is restricted to a small set of countries. This isn't a bug — it's a deliberate fraud safeguard.

Why calling is restricted by default

If an account gets compromised, attackers commonly use it to place large volumes of calls to high-cost international destinations, running up huge bills before anyone notices. Restricting which countries can be dialed by default limits the damage if that ever happens.

What's enabled automatically

  • The US and Canada
  • Your business's home country (unless it's flagged as high-risk)
  • Any country where you own a phone number

Enabling calls to additional countries

If you need to call a country that's not yet enabled, contact support with your account details and the countries you need added. Support reviews and enables the request.

Keep in mind this only affects voice calls — texting to additional countries is governed separately by messaging compliance rules.
