Credit Affiliates with Leads and Manual Sales in Workflows

Two workflow actions help you keep affiliate records accurate without manual data entry: one attaches leads to the right affiliate, the other records sales that happened outside online checkout.

Add Leads under an Affiliate

This action assigns a contact to an affiliate and a campaign so the affiliate gets proper credit. Choose one of three assignment methods:

  • Manual: pick a campaign, then an affiliate who belongs to it. Best for internal routing, form-based decisions, or admin choices.
  • Auto (Attribution): assigns the lead using the affiliate ID carried in the visitor's link. Choose First click or Last click attribution, and make sure the ID is passed along earlier in the journey, such as in the page or form URL.
  • Custom Mapping: reads the affiliate ID from a custom field or a workflow value. Ideal for hidden form fields and data pushed from other systems.

To use it, add the action, choose the method, fill in the extra fields it displays, then save and publish.

Add Manual Sales for an Affiliate

This action records a sale against a specific affiliate in a campaign.

  1. Add Add Manual Sales For An Affiliate.
  2. Pick the Affiliate Campaign; the affiliate list then shows only members of that campaign.
  3. Select the Affiliate.
  4. Enter the Revenue amount.
  5. Optionally enter the Event Date and an Event ID such as a transaction reference.
  6. Save the action.

Commission is then calculated using the campaign's default commission rules.

When to use these

  • Credit offline or phone sales.
  • Pay recurring commissions on a schedule.
  • Reward achievements, such as completing training, with a recorded sale.
  • Route leads captured by a partner's special link.

Checks before publishing

  • Confirm the affiliate belongs to the chosen campaign.
  • Test attribution with a link that includes the affiliate ID.
  • Review the first few records in the affiliate area.

Good to know: Manual sales use the campaign's default commission, so adjust the campaign settings first if you need a different rate.
