Turn On Auto Save in the Workflow Builder

Auto Save writes your canvas edits to the draft continuously, so a closed tab or a lost connection doesn't cost you your work. It never publishes anything.

Turn it on

From a workflow:

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and open any workflow.
  2. If a welcome pop-up appears, click Enable Auto Save Now.

From global settings:

  1. Go to Automation > Global Workflow Settings.
  2. Switch on Auto Save.

What it captures

  • Adding or deleting triggers and actions.
  • Changes on the workflow's Settings tab.
  • Renaming the workflow.
  • Changing the status between Draft and Published.

What it does not capture

Edits inside a step's configuration window are saved only after you click Save or Apply in that window. For example, a new time in a Wait step does not count until you commit it. Once it is on the canvas, Auto Save picks it up.

Draft versus publish

Everything goes to the draft. Your live workflow stays as it was until you click Publish, so you can experiment safely.

Version History

Auto Save does not create a new version entry by itself. To mark a milestone, click Save Version and give it a name.

Working with others

If two people or two browser tabs edit the same workflow, the most recent auto-save becomes the draft. Prefer one editor at a time for important changes, and refresh after being away.

Frequently asked

  • Does it publish my changes? No.
  • What if my connection drops? Saving resumes on reconnect; refresh and check Version History if unsure.
  • Does it work with AI-generated workflows? Yes.

Good to know: Use Save Version before large edits so you have a clean point to return to.
