Caption Length Limits and Daily Posting Caps

Alongside media rules, each network restricts how much text a post may contain and how many posts you can publish in a period. Knowing both helps you avoid errors.

Maximum caption length

  • Facebook post, Reel, or Story: 62,000 characters
  • Instagram post or Reel: 2,200 (stories take no caption)
  • LinkedIn: 3,000
  • TikTok: 150 for personal accounts, 2,200 for business accounts
  • Google Business Profile: 1,500
  • Pinterest: 100 for the title and 500 for the description
  • YouTube: 5,000
  • Threads: 500
  • Bluesky: 300
  • Community: 100,000

Posting caps

Limits apply per connected user and reset on a rolling basis:

  • Google Business Profile: 100 per 24 hours
  • Facebook: 200 per hour; Facebook Reels: 30 per 24 hours
  • Instagram: 25 per 24 hours
  • LinkedIn: 200 per 24 hours
  • TikTok: 15 per 24 hours
  • YouTube: 25 per 24 hours
  • Pinterest: 25 per 5 minutes

Other posting rules

  • At least one media file is required for Facebook Reels and Stories, Instagram posts and Reels, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn carousels, and Community posts.
  • Link preview cards appear for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google posts, but not for Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube.
  • Only Instagram posts, Community posts, and Threads accept mixed images and videos together.

Staying under the limits

When you use Customize for each channel, write to the shortest network first. For bulk scheduling and recurring series, spread posts across the day instead of grouping them in a single hour.

Good to know: Instagram counts emojis as more than one character, so leave some headroom below 2,200.
