Receive Outside Data with the Inbound Webhook Trigger

An inbound webhook lets another system tell Vendi Today that something happened. The other tool sends a JSON message to a private URL, and your workflow starts, with every field in that message available as a merge value.

Typical uses

  • Create a contact when a store records a new order.
  • Add a support ticket's details to the right contact.
  • Register event attendees from a booking platform.
  • Capture leads from a form built outside Vendi Today.

Set it up

  1. In Automation > Workflows, add the Inbound Webhook trigger.
  2. Copy the URL shown on the integration screen in Vendi Today and paste it into your other application.
  3. Send a test request using POST, GET, or PUT, then click Test Trigger.
  4. Pick the received request from the list (the newest sits at the top) and save it as your Mapping Reference.
  5. In the Create/Update Contact action that follows, map incoming values to contact fields.
  6. Publish. The values can now be used in emails, texts, and If/Else conditions.

Rules for the payload

  • Send JSON only.
  • Keys should be single words without spaces; use camelCase or snake_case.
  • To create or find a contact, include an email or phone.
  • Lists in the data can be used in text fields through the list formatter in the value picker.
  • If your data structure changes, reselect the mapping reference.

Running without a contact

If the data carries no email or phone, remove the contact action. The workflow still runs, and actions that don't need a contact, such as webhooks, Google Sheets, Slack, and internal tools, still work. Add Find Contact later if you need one.

If the URL leaks

Delete the trigger and add a fresh one. A new URL is generated and the old one stops entering your workflow, so update your connected tools.

Good to know: This trigger may use premium execution credits depending on your plan, so confirm your usage settings before sending high volumes.
