Send Bulk SMS People Actually Want to Receive
Bulk SMS gets read fast — but it's also easy to get wrong. Here's how to send a bulk text campaign in Vendi Today, and how to keep it from feeling like spam.
Sending a bulk SMS campaign
- Select the contacts you want to message — from a list, a smart list, or a saved segment.
- Click Send SMS.
- Write your message and give the campaign a title for your own reference.
- Choose how it goes out:
- Send all at once — everyone gets it immediately.
- Send at a scheduled time — everyone gets it at a future date/time you set.
- Drip mode — messages go out gradually in batches rather than all at once.
Configuring drip mode
If you choose drip mode, you can set:
- A start date and time
- How many messages go out per batch
- How often batches repeat
- Which days of the week sends are allowed
- An optional send window (for example, only between 10:30 AM and 11:00 AM)
Drip mode is useful for large lists — it spreads sends out so replies come in at a manageable pace instead of all flooding in at once.
Staying compliant
- Only text people who've given you consent to receive messages.
- Identify your business by name in the message.
- Include opt-out language ("Reply STOP to opt out") on your first message to a contact, or again if it's been 90+ days since your last one.
- Honor STOP requests immediately and don't message that contact again.
Getting better response rates
- Personalize with the contact's first name using a merge field rather than sending something generic.
- Don't over-send — once a month is a reasonable ceiling for broad campaigns.
- Keep the tone short, casual, and low-pressure; skip excessive punctuation or emojis.
- Lead with a clear offer or reason to respond.
- Ask one direct question rather than several, so replies are easy to give.
- Avoid including links where possible — links can hurt deliverability and trigger spam filters.
- Reply quickly when people respond — slow replies make a legitimate campaign look like a bot or spam operation.
