Charge a Customer Once with the Stripe One Time Charge Action

The Stripe One Time Charge action bills a fixed amount to an existing Stripe customer whenever a workflow reaches it. It suits pay-per-event models such as a fee per qualified lead, per booked consultation or per accepted request, without creating an invoice or a subscription.

Before you begin

  • Connect your Stripe account in Settings > Integrations.
  • Have the Stripe Customer ID of the person to be charged. The charge is made against a customer already stored in Stripe, so the ID must be valid.

Configure the action

  1. Open Automation > Workflows and create or edit a workflow.
  2. Add a trigger that marks the billable moment, for example Form Submitted, Customer Booked Appointment, or a tag being added.
  3. Click + and choose Stripe One Time Charge.
  4. Rename the action if you wish, such as "Charge lead fee".
  5. Fill in the fields:
    • Stripe Customer ID (required): type it or insert it from a custom field.
    • Description (optional): a note that identifies the charge.
    • Amount (required): how much to charge.
    • Currency (required): the currency for that amount.
  6. Click Save Action, then publish.

Trigger ideas

  • A form is submitted by a qualified prospect.
  • A tag such as "Ready to Purchase" is added.
  • An appointment is confirmed.
  • An order is marked completed.
  • A payment-related link is clicked.

Cautions

  • This action is for single charges only. For repeating billing, use Send Recurring Invoice instead.
  • An invalid customer ID makes the charge fail, so test with a small amount first and review the execution log.
  • Add a condition (such as a tag check) so a contact cannot re-enter and be charged twice.
  • It is meant for charging a Stripe customer you manage, not as a checkout for your own contacts' purchases. For that, use invoices, estimates or order forms.

Good to know: Put a "charged" tag on the contact immediately after this step so you can filter duplicates and audit billing easily.
