Countdown Timers in Vendi Today: Overview and Types
A countdown timer is a live clock that shows how much time is left before a deadline. Placed in an email, on a landing page or inside a messaging template, it gives people a concrete reason to act now instead of "later". You build and manage every timer in one place, then reuse it wherever you need it.
Why Use a Timer
- Add urgency to flash sales, launches, and early-bird pricing.
- Show exactly when registration closes for a webinar or event.
- Keep a promotion looking fresh with a clock that restarts by itself.
- Personalize an offer so each contact gets their own window.
The Three Timer Types
| Type | Best for | How it ends |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | One-time deadlines such as a holiday sale | A single date and time shared by everyone |
| Recurring | Weekly classes, regular promotions | Counts down, resets, and repeats for a set number of loops |
| Dynamic | Evergreen offers, follow-up sequences | Starts per contact when an email is sent or opened |
Create Your First Timer
- Go to Marketing and open Countdown Timers.
- Click + New.
- Pick a design and choose Continue with this template.
- Select the Timer Type: Fixed, Recurring, or Dynamic.
- Fill in the timing fields for that type.
- Enter an Active Link (where people go while the timer runs) and an Expired Link (where they go after it ends).
- Open Styling to adjust colors, fonts, the expiry image, and the time format.
- Give the timer a clear name and click Save.
Plan the Destinations
Always fill in both links before saving. The Active Link should point to the page where the offer lives, ideally a page that carries the same timer so it switches to the expired experience automatically. The Expired Link should lead to something useful, such as a waitlist or "offer ended" page.
Good to know: Keep timers consistent across your emails and pages; a clock that shows one deadline in an email and a different one on the landing page quickly erodes trust.
