Understand Premium Triggers, Actions, and Usage

Most workflow steps, such as sending a message, updating a Contact, or waiting, are part of your normal plan. A smaller group is classed as premium. These steps usually connect to outside services, for example custom webhooks, spreadsheet and chat app actions, and installed marketplace apps.

What counts

A premium execution happens each time a premium trigger or action runs. Standard steps do not count toward it. Some AI steps follow their own usage rules, so check the description of each feature.

Where to find it

  1. Go to Automation > Global Workflow Settings to review whether premium features are enabled and how usage is being tracked.
  2. If you want to know which steps in a workflow are premium, open the workflow and look for the premium label on each trigger or action, or check the details when you add an app from Discover.

Keeping usage under control

  • Use a standard step where one would do the job instead of a premium app call.
  • Add conditions so that a premium step runs only for contacts who need it.
  • Put a Test Action run on your design before you publish, rather than testing with large batches of contacts.
  • Review your usage regularly if workflows enroll many contacts, since volume drives how often premium steps run.

If premium steps stop running

When premium features are switched off or your usage allowance is exhausted, steps may be skipped or marked with an error. Ask your account administrator to review billing and settings; the Execution Logs will show which step was affected.

Good to know: Connected-app triggers that check for changes every few minutes can use up executions faster than event-based ones, so scope them with filters.
