Add a Location Tag to a Social Post
A location tag attaches a physical place to your post. For local businesses this is a simple way to get found by nearby people, increase visibility, and encourage visits. Social Planner supports location tags on Facebook and Instagram.
Why tag a location
- Posts appear in location-based browsing and searches on the network.
- Followers get a clear signal of where an offer, event, or photo is happening.
- You can build local awareness without paying for ads.
Tag a place on a new post
- Open Marketing, then Social Planner.
- Click + New Post and select Create New Post.
- Choose your Facebook and/or Instagram accounts in the Post to field.
- Write your caption and add any images or video.
- Find the Location option in the post settings and search for a business name, address, or landmark.
- Pick the correct result from the list. It is added to the post preview.
- Schedule or publish the post as usual.
Re-authorizing for location access
The first time you use a location tag, the network may ask you to approve an extra permission for the connected account. Follow the prompts to log in again and accept it. Your existing posts and schedules are not affected.
Troubleshooting
- If no places show up, check the spelling or search with the street address.
- If the permission prompt keeps appearing, disconnect the account in Social Planner > Settings and connect it again.
- Location tags are not available for networks other than Facebook and Instagram.
Good to know: Pick the listing that matches your real business entry, since duplicate or outdated place listings can send followers to the wrong spot.
