Send Slack Messages from a Workflow
If your team lives in Slack, the Slack action brings Vendi Today events to where people already are. A workflow can send a direct message to a person or post to a public or private channel the moment something happens, such as a new lead, a won deal, or a failed payment.
Choose what to send
The action has three modes:
- Send Direct Message to User
- Send Public Channel Message
- Send Private Channel Message
Messages to private channels appear as if the person who connected Slack had written them.
Pick a direct message recipient
- Assigned User: the team member assigned to the contact. Their email in your user settings is matched to a Slack member.
- Custom Email: type an email or insert a merge field, useful when the recipient varies.
- Internal User: pick any user on your Vendi Today account.
- Slack User: search your Slack workspace by name. Slack returns people in pages, so click Load More until the person appears.
Set it up
- In Automation > Workflows, click + and choose Slack.
- Connect your Slack workspace when asked.
- Select the event type.
- Choose the recipient or channel.
- Write the message and insert merge fields such as contact name, phone, or opportunity value.
- Save and publish.
Ideas to start with
- Alert sales when a form is submitted or a deal is won.
- Notify support when a negative reply arrives.
- Post daily reminders to a team channel.
- Send a manager a message when an appointment is canceled.
If a message doesn't arrive
- For direct messages, confirm the email in Vendi Today matches the person's Slack email.
- For private channels, make sure the connected Slack account has access to that channel.
Good to know: This is a premium action, so each send may use execution credits depending on your plan.
