Customize How Your Chat Widget Looks and Behaves

Customization settings decide what visitors see, where the widget sits and when it loads. Options vary slightly by chat type.

Open the settings

Go to Sites > Chat Widget, then open a widget or click New.

Widget tab

  • Chat Launcher: the button visitors click, with or without a prompt message.
  • Chat Icon and Theme: choose a preset or set your own colors.
  • First-time and returning visitor messages: show different greetings to new and repeat visitors.
  • Avatar images: add faces for your team.
  • Widget Placement: Sticky (fixed in a corner) or Embedded / Inline (inside the page content).
  • Dimensions: keep Auto or choose Custom (200 px minimum). Use Set to Default to restore recommended sizes.

Chat Window tab

Set the title, intro text, contact form fields, call to action and a prefilled message where supported. Redirect Call-To-Action shows a clickable message that sends visitors to an outside page (All-in-One only; avoid it with Conversation AI active).

Load on user interaction delays the widget until the visitor scrolls, clicks or touches the page, or after about 8 seconds, which helps page speed.

Compliance notice and consent

Under Additional options, you can show a legal notice, add a consent checkbox, make it required, or pre-tick it.

Messaging tab

Edit the acknowledgement message and choose the widget language.

Good to know: Save, then check the live preview on both desktop and mobile before publishing.
