Accept Manual/Offline Payments

Not every sale needs to be paid online at the moment of checkout. The manual payment method lets customers select "pay later" at checkout — for example, cash or check on delivery or pickup — and you record the payment yourself once it's actually received.

Set it up

  1. Go to Payments > Integrations > Manual Payment Methods.
  2. Choose Cash on Delivery or create your own custom manual method with a different name.
  3. Optionally add instructions customers will see (e.g., "Pay in cash when your order arrives").
  4. Enable the method for your ecommerce store, your order forms, or both.
  5. Save.

You'll need an existing payment integration already connected before this option becomes available — manual payment is an additional checkout option, not a replacement for having a payment provider connected.

Collecting the payment later

  1. Once the order comes in, go to Payments > Orders and open it.
  2. Click Collect Payment.
  3. Choose the payment mode from the dropdown (cash, check, etc.), add any notes for your records, and mark it as paid.

Marking an order as paid this way can't be undone, so double-check the amount before confirming.

Limitations

  • Manual payment won't appear as an option for orders containing recurring/subscription products.
  • It must be explicitly turned on per sales channel — enabling it for your store doesn't automatically enable it on order forms too.
