Turn On Click Tracking for Email Campaigns
Click tracking records which links in your email are clicked, how many times, and by whom. It is off by default, so enable it for each campaign you want to measure.
Why use it
- See which links and buttons your audience actually values.
- Compare link performance to improve layout and wording.
- Identify engaged contacts for follow-up.
Enable it
- Go to Marketing > Emails > Campaigns and create or open a campaign.
- Click Send or Schedule.
- Under Additional Settings, turn on Track Clicks.
- Send or schedule as usual.
- After sending, click the three dots beside the campaign, choose Statistics, then open Click Performance.
You must switch it on before sending. Clicks cannot be tracked for a campaign that went out without it.
Where tracking does not apply
- Test emails. Send a small real campaign to check instead.
- Trigger links, which already have their own tracking.
- Links that do not start with http:// or https://, including some stored in custom values.
- Email (mailto) links and anchor links within the page.
- System links such as preview and unsubscribe links.
- RSS and A/B test campaigns, and emails sent from Workflows.
- Campaigns sent before click tracking existed.
Tips
Write full links, including https://, and avoid relying on relative paths. Pair tracking with UTM tracking if you also analyze visits in an external analytics tool.
Good to know: If the Click Performance tab is empty, the first thing to check is whether Track Clicks was switched on before the send.
