Edit a Published or In-Review Meta Campaign
You can change many settings on a Meta campaign even after it has been published or while Meta is still reviewing it. Your edits stay unpublished until you submit them, and Meta reviews the update before it goes live.
Make an edit
- Go to Marketing > Ad Manager and find the campaign.
- Click the three dots on its row and choose Edit.
- Change the fields you need. An Unpublished Changes tag appears at the top right.
- Go to the review page, click Publish Ad Now, and confirm.
- The campaign moves to In Review. Once Meta approves it, the update goes live.
If the changes cause a problem, the status becomes Failed and hovering over it shows the reason.
What you can change
- Campaign name and call-to-action button.
- Lead form (Lead Generation) or website URL (Website Traffic).
- Special ad category and placements.
- Ad text and media.
- Budget amount and geographic location.
- Target audience: interests, lookalike or retargeting.
- End date, when the campaign uses a lifetime budget.
What stays locked
- Campaign objective.
- Facebook Page.
- Start date.
- Budget type, so a Daily budget cannot be switched to Lifetime or the reverse.
Discard changes
Click Back at the top left of the builder, then choose Discard in the prompt. The original campaign stays exactly as it was.
Placement note
Instagram Explore Feed is no longer an available placement. Existing campaigns that used it keep delivering through their other placements and need no action.
Good to know: To change a locked setting, clone the campaign instead and publish the clone with the new objective, Page or dates.
