Mention and Tag Other Profiles in Social Planner Posts

Tagging another brand, partner, or customer in a post can widen its reach, because the tagged profile is often notified and may reshare it. Social Planner lets you add @mentions right inside the post editor.

Where mentions work

  • Facebook: Mentions turn into real tags of public Pages and profiles.
  • LinkedIn: Real tags are supported for company Pages only.
  • Instagram, TikTok, and Google Business Profile: The handle is published as plain text.

Mentions are supported only in posts you compose by hand. They are not available for CSV uploads, RSS posts, or review-sharing posts.

Add a mention to a post

  1. Go to Marketing, then open Social Planner.
  2. Click + New Post, then choose Create New Post.
  3. In the Post to field, pick the accounts you want to publish to.
  4. If you picked more than one network, switch on Customize for each channel so each network gets its own text.
  5. In the caption of a supported network, type @ followed by the first few letters of the name. A list of matching public profiles appears, showing names and follower counts.
  6. Select the profile you want. A correctly recognized tag is highlighted in blue in the preview.
  7. Finish the post and choose Post now, Schedule, or another publishing option.

Instagram specifics

Instagram does not offer name suggestions. Type the full @username yourself. The account you tag must also allow mentions in its own Instagram privacy settings, otherwise the tag will not take effect.

Good to know: If a tag is not highlighted in blue in the preview, it was not recognized. Delete it and search again before you publish.
