Research Keywords and Track Your Rankings

Choose the words people actually search, then watch how your pages move for them over time.

Keyword research

  1. Open the advanced SEO area and go to Keywords > Keyword Research.
  2. Enter a broad seed term, such as "teeth cleaning".
  3. Pick a country and language.
  4. Click search and review volume, difficulty, cost per click, trend and intent.
  5. Filter (for example volume above 100 and difficulty below 50) and save the ones you like.

Each search uses one lookup from a monthly allowance, even though it returns many suggestions, so use a few well-chosen seeds and refine with filters.

Pick keywords wisely

  • Long-tail phrases suit blog posts and FAQs.
  • Buying-intent phrases suit service pages.
  • Questions suit articles with FAQ sections.

Rank tracking

  1. Go to Keywords > Rank Tracker and click New Project.
  2. Name it, enter your domain and choose the search engine and location.
  3. Paste your keywords and group them with tags if useful.
  4. Choose an update schedule: daily, every three days, weekly or manual.

You will see current rank, change, best rank, volume, ranking page and last-checked time, plus trend lines. Add competitors to compare.

Limits

Rank tracking has a total keyword cap that does not reset monthly. Swap out keywords you no longer care about.

Good to know: Weekly checks are enough for most businesses and stretch your allowance further.
