Membership Triggers: New Sign Up and Product Completed
Two triggers mark the start and the end of a member's journey: Courses New Sign Up when someone first gets in, and Product Completed when they finish.
Courses New Sign Up
Fires when a customer signs up for an offer, membership or community group for the first time. It suits welcome emails, access instructions and sign-up incentives.
- Filter: pick the Offer the sign-up relates to, such as an early-bird discount, or leave it open for all.
- Important: if the contact was already given access to that membership or group by other means, the trigger will not fire for them.
- Example: for a "15% Early Bird Discount" membership, send a welcome email with next steps and apply an "Early Bird" tag.
Product Completed
Fires when a contact finishes a product, such as a course, subscription or service.
- Filter: Product with operators like Is any of to include products or Is none of to exclude them.
- Example: after completion of a beginner course, send a congratulations email, request feedback with a survey and offer the next course.
Set either one up
- Go to Automation > Workflows and create a workflow.
- Click Add New Trigger and choose Courses New Sign Up or Product Completed.
- Name it, for instance "Advanced course completion follow-up".
- Click Add filters, select the offer or product, then click Save Trigger.
- Add actions and test with sample data, then publish.
Journey ideas
- Welcome stage: sign-up triggers a welcome message and a first-week tips series.
- Completion stage: completion triggers a survey, a testimonial request and an upsell.
- Reporting: tag members at both stages so you can see sign-ups and finishers in lists.
Good to know: Use Product Completed to ask for a testimonial while the feeling of achievement is fresh.
