Creating Rental Listings and Units
Before anyone can book a rental, you need to define exactly what's available to rent. A listing is the individual unit or category of units — a specific cabin, a class of equipment, a meeting room — that shows up on your booking page.
Building a listing
- Open your rental calendar and go to Listings.
- Create a new listing and give it a clear, customer-facing name and description.
- Add photos if your booking page supports them — listings with images convert noticeably better than text-only entries.
- Set the quantity available if you have more than one identical unit (for example, five identical kayaks under one listing).
- If the listing has meaningful variations — different room sizes, different vehicle types — set those up as variants under the same listing rather than creating entirely separate listings.
Variants vs. separate listings
Use variants when the units are fundamentally the same offering with minor differences (a studio vs. a one-bedroom of the same property line). Use separate listings when the offerings are different enough that customers would search for them differently, or when pricing and rules diverge significantly.
Keeping listings accurate
Update quantity immediately if a unit goes out of service for repair or maintenance — an inflated quantity is one of the fastest ways to end up double-booked on a unit that doesn't actually exist that week.
Good to know: Fill out every listing field you can, even optional ones — incomplete listings tend to generate more pre-booking questions from customers, which adds friction you can avoid with a thorough listing up front.
