Why Your Phone System Access Was Suspended
If calling or texting suddenly stops working across your whole account rather than on one number, it's usually a compliance suspension rather than a technical bug.
Common causes
- High error rate — a large share of your outbound messages are failing to deliver.
- High opt-out rate — a large share of recipients are unsubscribing, which carriers read as a sign you're messaging people who never opted in.
- Missing sender identification — not clearly identifying your business in the first message of a conversation.
- Missing opt-out instructions — not including something like "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" in your messaging.
- Prohibited content — messages about categories carriers restrict (e.g., certain financial offers), see Messaging Acceptable Use Policy.
- Sending the same message from many numbers at once without a legitimate business reason — this pattern reads as spam to carrier filters even if the content itself is fine.
Healthy ranges to aim for
Keep your opt-out rate under roughly 0.3% and your error rate under roughly 6% to stay well clear of automatic compliance flags.
Getting reinstated
Open a support ticket and be ready to provide:
- Screenshots of a compliant first message sent to an actually opted-in contact
- The URL where people opt in, showing an unchecked (not pre-checked) consent checkbox separate from your terms and conditions, a description of the messaging program, expected frequency, and any fees
- Your Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, including a statement that mobile opt-in information isn't shared with third parties for marketing purposes
The clearer your consent trail, the faster this typically resolves. If you're not sure your opt-in flow meets these requirements, fix it before resubmitting — a second rejection slows things down further.
