Get Alerts When a Workflow Step Fails

Most failures happen quietly inside a step, such as a webhook that returns an error, so nobody notices for days. Error notifications email your admins and collect problem workflows into a Needs Review list.

What you get

  • Email alerts: sent to account admins when a covered step fails.
  • Needs Review tab: on the workflows list, showing every workflow with an error.
  • Acknowledge button: in the execution log, to mark errors as seen.
  • A settings page to manage who is emailed.

Steps covered

Alerts apply to steps that talk to outside systems, including webhooks and custom webhooks, premium actions such as Slack, Array, custom code, AI text steps, and Google Sheets, and Facebook and Instagram steps like audiences, conversion events, and messenger actions.

Set it up

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and click Workflow Settings.
  2. Turn on error notifications. They are off by default.
  3. Add or remove email recipients as needed.
  4. Save.

Work through errors

  1. Open the Needs Review tab.
  2. Click a workflow to jump to its execution logs.
  3. Read the failure details, fix the step, and rerun if needed.
  4. Click to mark errors as read once handled.

How often emails arrive

You receive an email right away on the first error, then at most one email every 24 hours. If new errors appear after that period, another email follows. The Review it button in the message opens the Needs Review tab.

Turning alerts off

Return to Workflow Settings and switch the notification toggle off.

Good to know: Add a shared team mailbox as a recipient so alerts don't depend on one person being online.
