SIM-Based Calling in the Mobile App
Before you've purchased a phone number, the mobile app lets you call contacts directly through your phone's own SIM card and native dialer — no business phone number needed yet.
How it works
Tap the phone icon next to any contact's number in Contacts, Opportunities, or Conversations. Your phone's built-in dialer opens with the number pre-filled — just tap to call. The call runs entirely on your personal carrier plan and minutes, and shows your personal number as caller ID to the recipient.
What's different from calling through the phone system
- Uses your carrier's minutes and billing, not the platform's.
- Shows your personal number, not a business number.
- No call recording, transfer, or analytics — these all require a phone system number.
- Calls aren't logged automatically; if you want a record of the conversation, add a note or use a workflow action to log it manually.
Availability
SIM-based calling works automatically with no setup, but only until you activate a phone system number on your account. Once you purchase a number, calling shifts to the built-in dialer and SIM-based calling is no longer available — at that point you get recording, transfers, and reporting in exchange for losing the "use my own SIM" option.
