Pause, Resume or Cancel a Scheduled Email Campaign

Once a campaign is scheduled, you are not locked in. The campaign list gives you three controls for pending sends: pause, resume and cancel.

What each control does

  • Pause temporarily holds the campaign. Nothing further is sent until you act.
  • Resume restarts a paused campaign. If the original send time is still in the future, it goes out at that time. If the time has already passed, it sends immediately.
  • Cancel permanently stops the scheduled send. A canceled campaign cannot be resumed, although it is not deleted and stays in your list.

These controls work with scheduled, batch scheduled and RSS scheduled campaigns.

Use the controls

  1. Go to Marketing > Emails > Campaigns.
  2. Find the scheduled campaign in the list.
  3. Click the three-dot menu next to it.
  4. Choose Pause, Resume or Cancel, depending on its current status.

Pause or reschedule?

Pause when you need time to fix something and have no new date yet. Choose Reschedule when you already know the new send time. Reschedules must be finished at least 60 minutes before the planned send.

A paused campaign stays paused indefinitely, so set yourself a reminder. If you forget, the contacts simply never receive the email.

Good to know: Before resuming a paused campaign after its original time, double-check the content, because it will go out immediately.
