Registering Your A2P Brand & Campaign

Registration happens in two parts: first your Brand (who you are), then your Campaign (what you're texting about). Both live under the Trust Center.

Part 1: Register your Brand

  1. Go to Settings > Phone System > Trust Center > A2P Messaging and click Start Registration.
  2. Answer the eligibility questions about your business registration status. This determines which brand type applies to you:
    • Standard Brand — for businesses with a Tax ID/EIN. Provide your legal business name, registration number, business type/industry, address, and an authorized representative's contact info. A business-domain email is preferred over a free consumer email address.
    • Sole Proprietor Brand — for individuals without a Tax ID. Provide your name or business name, industry, a US/Canada mobile number for one-time-password verification, and a standard email address.
  3. Complete identity verification (via Persona or email one-time code).
  4. Submit — accuracy matters here. Details that don't exactly match your official business records are a common cause of delay or rejection.

Part 2: Register your Campaign

Once your brand is approved, register a campaign describing your actual messaging:

  1. Choose your expected volume tier — low or high volume — based on your Tax ID status and expected send rate. (Sole proprietors without a Tax ID are generally limited to single-number registration.)
  2. Choose a setup path: Quick Setup (using a built-in opt-in widget — recommended for most) or Manual Setup (if you already have your own custom opt-in flow to document).
  3. Fill in campaign details: your use case (see A2P Campaign Use Cases), your business website, and a description of who's sending, who's receiving, and how consent is collected.
  4. Provide sample messages that reflect exactly what you'll actually send — including opt-out language like "Reply STOP to unsubscribe."
  5. Document your opt-in method, along with links to your Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.
  6. Submit for compliance review — an automated check flags anything that needs fixing before final submission.

After approval

Confirm each number you'll be texting from shows the green A2P Verified label under Settings > Phone System > Phone Numbers. If a number isn't linked yet, see Linking a Number to Your A2P Campaign.

Canada-specific notes

  • Texting from Canada to the US always requires A2P registration, regardless of when the number was purchased.
  • Texting Canada to Canada only: numbers purchased before March 26, 2025 don't require A2P for domestic-only sending; numbers purchased on or after that date need either A2P registration or identity verification (KYC) before sending, even domestically.
  • If you start out Canada-only and later expand to US contacts, complete A2P registration before you send your first US message.
  • Toll-free numbers are exempt from A2P registration entirely (they use their own toll-free verification process instead).
