App QR Codes for iPhone and Android

An App QR code is a single code that sends people to the right app store for their phone. Someone scanning with an iPhone lands on the Apple App Store, an Android user lands on Google Play, and anyone else can be sent to a fallback page of your choice.

Why use one code

  • One code, two platforms: no need to print separate codes or build a page of store buttons.
  • Automatic routing: Vendi Today detects the device at the moment of the scan.
  • Reusable: put the same code on packaging, flyers, your website, and campaigns.
  • Familiar design tools: it uses the same styling options as every other QR code.

What you need first

  • The link to your app's App Store listing.
  • The link to your app's Google Play listing.
  • Optionally, a fallback web address for other devices, such as a landing page describing the app.

Create it

  1. Click Sites in the left sidebar, then open QR Codes.
  2. Click Create QR Code.
  3. Give it a clear name.
  4. Choose App as the type.
  5. Paste the App Store link in the iOS field.
  6. Paste the Play Store link in the Android field.
  7. If desired, add an Other Devices URL.
  8. Click Next and style the code with colors, shapes, and a logo.
  9. Scan it to test, then click Save.

Testing

Try the code with both an iPhone and an Android phone when you can, and check the fallback link separately. If you leave the fallback empty, other devices have no assigned destination.

Good to know: Add a fallback page that explains your app; people scanning from a computer or tablet will otherwise hit a dead end.
