Score Answers and Group Them Into Categories

Scoring turns answers into numbers so the quiz can grade, segment or recommend.

Set it up

  1. Open Sites > Quizzes and edit your quiz.
  2. Add questions with Single Choice, Multiple Choice, Dropdown or Multi Dropdown.
  3. Give each answer a score, reflecting how much weight it carries.
  4. Click Manage Categories and create categories, such as "Marketing", "Sales" or "Leadership".
  5. In each answer's options panel, assign the category and score. An answer with no category counts only toward the overall score.
  6. Save and use Preview to verify totals.

How points add up

  • A question's maximum equals its highest possible answer score; for multiple choice it is the sum of every option.
  • An answer assigned to Category A adds to Category A and to the overall total.
  • One answer can add to several categories.
  • The final score compares points earned to the maximum possible.

Messages by score range

Turn on Dynamic Content in the Overall Score or Category Score result sections and write a different message for Low, Medium and High. For example, Low suggests help getting started, High invites a strategy call.

Checks

  • Re-check assignments if category totals look off.
  • Remember overall-only answers never affect categories.
  • Always preview a few different answer sets.

Good to know: Keep scoring symmetric across questions; if one question can award 50 points and others award 10, it will dominate every result.
