Choosing Product Image Layouts and Zoom for Product Pages
On a store's Product Details page you decide how photos and videos are laid out and how shoppers zoom into them. Settings live in the Product Details element in the store's page builder and apply to default and custom product pages.
Layout Choices
- Carousel with Thumbnails: a large main image with a thumbnail strip and arrows. Good for many angles.
- Grid Gallery: all images visible together, best for three to six images.
- Stacked Vertical: images in a scrolling column, ideal on phones or with many detail shots.
- Single Image: one hero shot, suited to simple or digital products.
Names can vary slightly by account, so check the options in your element settings.
Zoom Options
- Open the store page in the builder and select the Product Details element.
- Set the layout, then choose Image Zoom:
- Open Lightbox: a fullscreen viewer with zoom, arrows and thumbnails.
- Click & Hover Zoom: magnifies in place without leaving the page.
- No Zoom: images stay at normal size.
- Save and publish.
Keyboard Navigation in the Lightbox
With Open Lightbox, shoppers can press Escape to close and the Left and Right arrow keys to move between images. The viewer takes focus automatically, the arrows wrap around from last to first, the page behind does not scroll, and the thumbnail strip follows along. Keys cannot be remapped, and they only work in lightbox mode on devices with keyboards.
Media Tips
Use consistent image sizes, include lifestyle and close-up shots, and compress files for speed.
Good to know: Choose the lightbox for jewelry, fashion and electronics, where shoppers want to inspect fine detail.
