Autosave and Version History

Autosave protects your work in the email builder. It records versions as you edit, so an accidental refresh, a lost connection or a stray back-swipe does not cost you your design.

What it does

  • Creates version snapshots during your editing session.
  • Shows the time of the last save in an indicator. Hover over it for details.
  • Feeds Version History, where earlier states can be reviewed and restored.

Turning it on

Autosave may be offered through the Labs area in your settings, and in many accounts it is already on. If you see an autosave toggle there:

  1. Open Labs in your account settings.
  2. Find the email builder autosave option and switch it on.
  3. Go to Marketing > Emails.
  4. Open or create a template or campaign and start editing.
  5. Hover over the autosave indicator to confirm the last saved time.

Using Version History

  1. Open the builder for your template or campaign.
  2. Choose Version History.
  3. Browse the timestamped versions.
  4. Select one to compare or restore.

This is perfect for undoing changes you regret or comparing two design directions.

Frequently asked questions

  • Do I still need to click save? You no longer have to save after every edit, but saving a finished email is still good practice.
  • How often are versions created? Automatically as you work.
  • Can I turn it off? If a toggle appears in your settings, yes.

Good to know: Before restoring an older version, note what you would lose from the current one so you can recreate it if needed.
