Recipe: Send a Free Checklist When Someone Comments on Your Instagram Post

This "comment to get the file" automation rewards followers who comment on a post by sending them a resource privately. Vendi Today includes a ready-made recipe you can start from; this walkthrough explains what each step does so you can adapt it.

Before you build

• Connect your Instagram account in Settings > Integrations and link it to your Facebook business page.
• Prepare your resource (a PDF checklist or a web page link).
• Decide on a call to action in the post caption, such as "Comment CHECKLIST and I'll send it".

Build the workflow

1. Go to Automation > Workflows, click Create Workflow, and choose the Instagram comment recipe (or start from scratch).
2. Trigger: Instagram comment on a post. Select your account, choose the post, and set the filter to first-level comments only so replies do not restart the flow. Add a keyword filter if you only want people who typed a specific word.
3. Action - Reply in Comments: post a public reply such as "Thanks for your interest! Check your DMs." Add a couple of variations so replies do not look identical.
4. Action - Instagram Interactive Messenger: send a DM that opens the conversation, for example "So glad you want to start your personal finance journey." Include two buttons: Visit our website and Get the checklist.
5. Action - second interactive message: when the person taps Get the checklist, reply with "Here is your checklist" and the file link.
6. Save and publish.

Make it work harder

• Add a tag like "Checklist Requested" for later email follow-up.
• Wait one day and send a relevant offer to those who opened the file.
• Add a notification so a team member sees new requests.

Test it

Comment on your post from a personal account and watch the public reply and the DM arrive. Check Execution Logs if something is missing.

Good to know: DMs depend on the commenter having interacted recently, so reply quickly after a comment is posted.
