Audio Device Settings in the Web Dialer
If calls sound muffled, your mic isn't picking up, or you want inbound calls to ring through a specific device, configure it from the dialer's audio settings.
How to set it up
- Open the dialer and click the gear icon in its header to open audio settings.
- Under Speaker, choose the device you want call audio to play through, and use the test button to confirm you can hear it.
- Under Microphone, choose your input device. Speak and watch the live volume meter to confirm it's picking up your voice.
- Optionally, set a secondary ring device — this only rings for inbound calls before you answer; once you pick up, audio switches to your main speaker.
- Click Save.
Good to know
- These settings are saved per browser and per device — if you take calls from a laptop and a desktop, or switch browsers, you'll need to set audio devices on each one.
- If a device you plugged in isn't showing up in the dropdown, unplug and reconnect it, then reopen the audio settings panel.
- Test both speaker and microphone before an important call rather than during one — the test button in this panel is the fastest way to catch a muted or disconnected device.
