Limit Commission Length and Vary Rates Over Time

For subscription products you may not want to pay affiliates forever, or you may want a richer reward at the start. Two settings give you that control.

Commission Length

By default an affiliate earns on a customer's charges until that customer cancels. To cap it:

  1. Open or create an affiliate campaign and enter the default commission.
  2. Click Commission Length.
  3. Choose By Count and enter the number of charges to pay on.

If you enter 3, the affiliate is paid on the first three successful charges only. The limit counts charges, not calendar time, so it behaves the same for monthly and yearly plans.

Variable Commissions Over Time

Pay a different rate for early charges than for later ones.

  1. Switch on Variable Commissions.
  2. Select Two Levels.
  3. Set the number of charges and the rate for the opening stretch.

Example: 33% for the first 3 charges, then the default 23% afterward. Add more levels if you want finer steps.

Which Rule Wins

When several commission settings could apply, Vendi Today checks them in this order:

  1. Product-based commissions
  2. Variable commissions
  3. Default commissions

Specific rules always beat general ones.

Saving

Save or publish the campaign and the new rules apply to future charges.

Good to know: Front-loading the rate rewards affiliates for bringing customers in without committing you to a high payout for years.
