Select Multiple Options in Trigger Filters

Triggers used to need one entry per form or phrase, so people duplicated workflows for every variation. Now many filters accept several choices at once, and any match is enough to start the workflow.

Where it works

  • Forms and Surveys filters on submission triggers.
  • Contains Phrase and Exact Match filters, for example on comment triggers.

How the choices combine

Multiple selections work as an "or" rule. If a comment trigger lists five phrases, the workflow starts when the comment includes any one of them.

Use it for forms and surveys

  1. Open the Form Submitted or Survey Submitted trigger.
  2. Click the Form or Survey filter field.
  3. Click each option you want in the dropdown; chosen items are highlighted or listed.
  4. Save the trigger.

Use it for phrases

  1. Open a trigger that has a phrase filter, such as a social comment trigger.
  2. Choose Contains Phrase or Exact Match.
  3. Type a phrase and press Enter or Return.
  4. Type the next phrase and press Enter again.
  5. Save the trigger.

Examples

  • Start a lead workflow from your homepage form, your landing page form, and your event form with one trigger.
  • React to the comments "price", "cost", and "how much" with the same reply.

Match type reminder

Exact Match requires the complete text to be identical, while Contains Phrase allows extra words around it. Use exact matches for keywords and phrase matches for natural sentences.

Good to know: Fewer, broader triggers are easier to maintain than many near-identical workflows, so consolidate where the follow-up steps are the same.
