Resend a Campaign to Contacts Who Did Not Open It
Many people miss emails the first time. Resending to non-openers gives them a second chance, but it should be done carefully to avoid complaints and unsubscribes.
When it makes sense
- Use it for important campaigns, ideally when your typical open rate is above 20 percent.
- Resend within a day or so of the first send, while the message is still relevant.
- Change the subject line so the second email does not look like a repeat.
- Resend only once. More attempts can hurt your sender reputation.
Resend steps
- Go to Marketing > Emails > Campaigns.
- Find the sent campaign and click its three-dot menu.
- Choose Resend email to Unopened.
- Set the send time and a new subject line.
- Confirm. A new campaign with the same content is scheduled for the contacts who have not opened the original.
Limits to remember
- The resend must be scheduled between 12 hours and 10 days after the original send.
- It is not available for A/B test campaigns.
- A scheduled resend cannot be rescheduled. Delete it and set it up again instead.
- Accounts sending through a custom SMTP service may see less accurate results because open data can be incomplete.
Good to know: Wait for the first send to gather opens before resending, since the audience is calculated from who has not opened by then.
