Make Groups Private or Paid

By default a group is open. Two settings tighten that.

Making a group private

1. Group Settings > Details.
2. Toggle Private.
3. Save.

Requires approval to join, even via invite link. Control whether non-members see the group listed at all. Requests land on a Requested tab.

Screening join requests with approval questions

Up to three questions (text, single-select, multi-select) applicants answer before review — under Membership Answers.

Making a group paid

1. Settings > Subscriptions.
2. Choose one-time or recurring billing.

Private paid groups still require approval after payment; public paid groups grant access automatically. Both get confirmation emails.

Tax uses your existing payment settings. Test before going live. Members can cancel anytime (auto-removed). Refunds via payments settings. Restored contacts regain paid access without repaying.
