Voicemail Drops
A voicemail drop delivers a pre-recorded message straight to a contact's voicemail inbox — without ever ringing their phone. It's built for outreach at scale, where recording a fresh voicemail by hand for every missed connection isn't practical.
How it actually works
Behind the scenes, it places two quick calls: the first briefly occupies the line without charge or a visible log entry, then a second call two seconds later routes straight to voicemail, where your recorded message plays automatically. If a person picks up instead of voicemail, the system detects that and ends the call immediately — your recorded message is never played to a live person.
Setting one up in a workflow
- Build or open a workflow and choose a trigger — for example, an appointment status change, a form submission, or a contact getting a specific tag.
- Add the Voicemail action.
- Upload your pre-recorded message (MP3 or WAV, 64 kbps).
- Optionally scope it to specific users or contacts.
- Save and test with a sample contact before turning it on for real traffic.
Good use cases
- Appointment reminders and no-show recovery ("Sorry we missed you — here's a link to rebook")
- Welcoming a new lead
- Thanking someone after a form submission
- Re-engaging contacts who've gone quiet
What to expect
- Delivery isn't guaranteed to voicemail every time — carrier behavior means roughly 70% of drops land successfully.
- Daily volume ramps up gradually rather than allowing unlimited drops from day one; if you need a higher daily limit, you can request one from support.
Consent matters
Ringless voicemail is legally treated the same as an automated call in most jurisdictions. Only send drops to contacts who've given prior express consent to receive automated messages from you — check applicable regulations (like the TCPA in the US) before running a drop campaign, and keep records of how consent was collected.
