Choosing Layouts and Columns

Layouts are the rows that hold your content. Choosing the right column structure decides how your message reads on desktop and phones.

Layout options

  • 1 column: everything stacks vertically. Easiest to read, especially on mobile.
  • 2 columns: two equal halves, good for an image beside text.
  • 1/3 and 2/3 (or 2/3 and 1/3): one dominant side, such as a main story with a narrow sidebar.
  • 1/4 and 3/4 (or 3/4 and 1/4): a thin side column for navigation or a small image.
  • 4 columns: four equal cells for icon rows or small product grids.

Adding a layout

  1. Open a template or campaign at Marketing > Emails.
  2. Click Add Elements and choose a layout.
  3. Drag it onto the canvas.
  4. Drag content elements into each column.

Matching layout to purpose

  • Promotions and event invitations: a single column with one strong button.
  • Newsletters and digests: multi-section designs, one topic per section.
  • Abandoned-cart reminders: two columns, product on one side and offer on the other.
  • Re-engagement messages: a single column that reads like a personal note.

Styling a layout

Click a layout to set its margin, border, background and visibility. You can also hide a whole layout on mobile or desktop, or apply a conditional rule to it.

Mobile behavior

On narrow screens, multi-column layouts stack so each column is shown one under the other. Preview in mobile view to confirm the reading order still makes sense.

Good to know: When in doubt, start with one column. You can always split a section later.
