Collecting Payment at Booking

For businesses that need to get paid before an appointment ever happens — consultations, classes, reserved services — Vendi Today can require payment as part of the booking flow itself, rather than invoicing after the fact.

Turning on payment collection

From the calendar's settings, enable payment collection and connect a payment processor if you haven't already. Once it's on, customers won't be able to complete a booking without submitting payment first, which effectively turns your booking page into a point of sale for that service.

Supported payment processors

You can connect popular processors including card-based gateways and PayPal. If you have more than one connected, choose which one acts as the default for that calendar — only one processor handles a given transaction at a time. Note that a few processors aren't compatible with every booking widget style, so if a payment option isn't showing up as expected, check that your widget type supports the processor you connected.

Setting the price

Once payment collection is enabled, set the amount to charge and the currency, along with a short description that will appear on the customer's receipt and statement. This amount can match your service price exactly, or you can charge a booking fee that's separate from the full cost of the service.

Test before you launch

Every payment-enabled calendar includes a test mode toggle, letting you walk through the entire booking-and-payment flow yourself before customers start using it live.

Good to know: If you only want to secure the booking rather than collect the full amount up front, see the deposit article for the difference between full payment and a partial deposit at time of booking.
