What Is SHAKEN/STIR?
SHAKEN/STIR is an industry-standard protocol that cryptographically confirms you actually own the number you're calling from. It's the main defense against caller ID spoofing across the phone network.
Why it matters to you
Calls that pass SHAKEN/STIR authentication are more likely to display as a "Trusted Call" or verified caller on the recipient's phone, which tends to improve answer rates. It won't remove an existing "Spam Likely" label by itself, but it's a foundational piece of a good caller reputation — see Caller Reputation & Spam Prevention for the full picture.
Do you need to do anything?
If you've already registered for A2P texting, your numbers are typically enrolled in SHAKEN/STIR automatically — no extra step needed.
If you haven't registered for A2P, you can activate SHAKEN/STIR on its own from Settings > Phone System > Trust Center. You'll need an EIN to register. If you don't have one, use the Free Caller Registry (see Caller Reputation & Spam Prevention) as an alternative path to protecting your caller reputation.
