Send Birthday Messages with the Birthday Reminder Trigger

Remembering birthdays builds loyalty, and the Birthday Reminder trigger does the remembering for you. It scans your contacts' birth dates and enrolls anyone who matches.

How it works

Once a day, at 8 AM in your account time zone, Vendi Today checks each contact's date of birth. Contacts whose birthday is today enter the workflow. Contacts without a stored birthday are never included, so make sure the date of birth field is filled in through forms or imports.

Filters that shift the timing

• Before Number of Days: enroll contacts a set number of days ahead of the birthday, perfect for a pre-birthday offer.
• After Number of Days: enroll them a set number of days afterwards, for a belated greeting or feedback request.
• Day Is: run on a particular day of the month, which suits batch campaigns.
• Month Is: enroll people by birth month, for example for a monthly perks list.

Leaving the filters empty fires on the exact birthday.

Set it up

1. Go to Automation > Workflows and click Create Workflow.
2. Click Add New Trigger and choose Birthday Reminder.
3. Name it, for example "Birthday offer".
4. Optionally add timing filters.
5. Click Save Trigger, then add actions such as an email with a discount code and a text message.
6. Publish.

Tips

• Use a Wait step with the Time Window option if you want the message to go out at a friendlier hour than 8 AM.
• Add a Condition to skip contacts with DND enabled for the channel.
• Insert the contact's first name using custom values to keep it personal.

Good to know: A trigger set to 3 days before gives customers time to actually use a birthday offer.
